Educational Technology Task Force

Red Hook is a future-focused school district that has been at the forefront of connecting students not only with the technological tools to keep up with our changing world, but instruction on how to best utilize those tools. Part of ensuring our students are well-equipped to meet these rapidly evolving challenges is evaluating how these resources can best serve students.

In that spirit, the district has formed a task force, which will be composed of teachers, principals and administrative leadership. Its goal is to evaluate current practices and provide district leadership with insight on how our education should continue to evolve.

  • The task force’s work is planned to stretch for a calendar year in three steps. At the end of the process, the task force report its findings and recommendations to the Board of Education.

  • The task force is announced and invitations are sent to task force members.

  • The task force will engage in administrative discussion with the objective of shaping focused outcomes and goals.

  • The task force through the bulk of the 2026-27 school year will:

    • Engage in monthly meetings
    • Create various surveys to gauge use and consumption of various technology and resources
    • Research best practices as well as similar work being done by other school districts
    • Visit school districts to observe their own practices
    • Attend local and national conferences on related topics
    • Craft and deliver its final report

The district in recent years has added resources to each of its buildings to encourage future-focused skill development. Our students have also been provided age-appropriate guidance on digital literacy and, at our high school, students can choose to take part in a special advisory council on the use of artificial intelligence.
